A street in the Old Town of Bucharest in the evening

Bucharest and around

Most travellers arrive here and leave the next morning. That is a mistake we would rather you did not make: Bucharest is a city of interwar villas and communist boulevards standing side by side, and the best day trips in the country start from it.

What you see in Bucharest and around

The city itself

The Old Town, the interwar quarters with their villas, and the Palace of the Parliament — the heaviest building in the world, and the clearest thing Ceaușescu left behind. We walk the parts that are worth walking and drive the parts that are not.

Day trips into the mountains

Peleș Castle at Sinaia, the monastery there, and the valley towns are two hours away. It is the most common single day out of Bucharest, and it works even in winter.

One-day trips, all year

We run day trips out of Bucharest through the whole year — mountain valleys, monasteries, the Danube, the wine country. If you have a free day at the start or the end of your trip, tell us and we will fit one in.

Practical notes

  • Henri Coandă airport is about forty minutes from the centre, traffic depending.
  • Two nights in Bucharest is enough for the city and one day trip.
  • Trips out of the city leave in the morning and return the same evening.

Nothing here is a fixed package. Tell us how many days you have and what you want to see, and we will put a route together. Ask for a quote.
